I did a quick update on the design section today. I liked the more conversational tone of the old page, but I just wasn’t getting it updated frequently enough. So I’ve changed it into another gallery page. I’ll be doing another WP update soon, so hopefully that will also allow me to remove some of the rough edges on the gallery interface.

My friend Kris has just taken a marketing job that will take her permanently to New York City. While sad to see her leave this coast, I’m glad that she’s grabbing an exciting opportunity. We recently worked up this little site to showcase her other career as a freelance interior designer:

Every time I think I’ve resigned myself to living with my blog layout despite it not displaying the way I want it too I stumble across a really wonderful example of a blog that does display properly and has lovely type to boot. Like this one, which I think is built on a pre-made template yet is still very pretty, and contains photos of the artist’s very fun experiments in metal, sculpt-able business card design:

However, that would mean taking time away from animating, sleeping, eating, and all the other sorts of things I’d really rather be doing than fiddling with CSS until I want to scream.  So for the time being I resist.

For the last couple of years my former classmate (well design lab mate really- we never actually were in the same class because he was 2 years ahead of me) PJ Onori has been keeping a very cool blog about his design process and web development issues.  Yeah, he’s one of those people who can full on code and make stuff pretty.  He just relaunched a totally re-designed, feature rich version that I have no doubt will make him internet famous. Check it out sometime!

I’m going to be road tripping to Siggraph this week with some of my AM classmates. I’m really looking forward to a whole week of animation-centric goodness.
